The boys had a real good plan: or at least they thought they did. Turned out they weren’t quite as smart as they thought. They had planned to disguise themselves so they wouldn’t be recognized and split the gang up so that part of the gang took one bank while the other part took the other bank.
Well, Bob and Emmett decided they would rather head to California than face a California collar, so they hotfooted out of town, leavin’ Grat in jail behind ‘em. After he was turned loose on account of not having enough evidence, he joined up with his brothers.
