The Story of Cherokee Bill Part 1
Cherokee Bill was one of the meanest, wildest outlaws in the Wild, Wild West. When he was born in Texas in 1876 he was called Crawford Goldsby but when he died just
20 short years later most folks just knew him as Cherokee Bill. Now, accordin’ to legend Cherokee Bill made his first kill when he weren’t more than 12 years old. Seein’ as how he was so young and all the law let him get by with that one, so he spent the next three years or so practicing his aim and making a living with petty thievery.
Now, it would seem that this fella had a bit of a temper.
Apparently, he got in a fight with another fella over a gal one night at a dance and so he decided to take care of the matter by going for his guns. Since he was older this time, the law wasn’t nearly so understandin’. Well, he lit out and headed for Indian territory and took up with some fellas that couldn’t keep a handle on their tempers any better than him.
By the end of 1894, Cherokee Bill and his rather infamous associates had terrorized one end of Indian Territory to the other with their robbin’ and killin’. Rumor has it that they robbed every single last store in one town-all on the same day.
